Okinyi Ayungo

Okinyi is the owner of FDT Training Systems.  Before starting FDT Training, Okinyi worked for Washington Sports Clubs in North Bethesda.  From 2001 until leaving Washington Sports Clubs in 2008, Okinyi was the #1 trainer throughout the 18 Washington Sports Clubs in the Washington Metro area.  In addition, in 2002 and 2003, Mr. Ayungo was the top Master Trainer out of 130 plus clubs in the Towns Sports International (TSI) Network including Boston, Philadelphia, New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, and Washington DC.  

Okinyi is also a trainer of trainers.  As an educator, Okinyi spent three years educating other personal trainers as a member of TSI Training and Development Faculty.  He has also has served as a community educator, presenting at area health and fitness events.  As an innovator in group fitness, Okinyi co-created the Functional Training Group Exclusive and Youth Sports Conditioning programs with Juan Carlos Santana and a few of TSI’s top trainers.  The Functional Training Group Exclusive is now being taught at many of TSI’s top clubs throughout the east coast.

Okinyi’s devotion to fitness is fueled by his lifelong love of athletics.  Okinyi was drawn to exercise and fitness at a young age through sports.  In over 28 years of competitive experience, Okinyi garnered All-Ivy honors in Track and Field at the University of Pennsylvania and has competed internationally.  Today he still participates in USA Track and Field meets.  Using his first-hand athletic experience, technical knowledge, and scientific background, Okinyi helps young and old athletes improve power, speed, and agility as a conditioning consultant for several area sports teams.  

Okinyi has a BA in Neuroscience from the University of Pennsylvania, PA.  He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a Certified Level I Coach through USA Track and Field.

Philosophy:  Every aspect of exercise, health, and performance is 90% mental.
